Three men were killed in Anaheim when the driver of Nissan Murano failed to obey a stop light at a busy intersection on West Ball Road. The accident shows how quickly an event that at first appear to be a minor traffic offense can escalate into a serious collision with several injuries and at least one death.
The accident
The Nissan was heading west bound on Ball Road and failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Ball Road and Magnolia Avenue. The Nissan struck a 2016 Honda Accord that was carrying four men. One of the rear seat passengers, a 49-year-old male, was killed instantly. The other three persons in the Honda were taken to nearby hospitals and treated for minor injuries. One of the vehicles then struck a Toyota Camry, which had stopped at the light. None of the occupants of the Toyota was injured.
The driver of the Nissan was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. His physical condition was unknown.
Liability
The driver of the Nissan appears to bear the heaviest burden of liability, especially if blood tests show that his blood alcohol content exceeded California’s legal limit of 0.08%. This person also appears to be first in line of persons liable for the accident because he failed to obey the red light.
